Bonano.Edition Leather wallets are uniquely handmade to physically feel the quality of a handmade leather wallet. We do not use any high technology or heavy machinery to craft our wallets; just simply hand tools. We use a 2-3 oz vegetable tanned leather for all of our wallets. We hand dye all of our leather products using an alcohol based dye with 2 coats of a natural sealer to protect the leather. The thread used is a durable waxed thread to ensure product durability.
What is vegetable tanned leather? Vegetable tanned leather refers to the method of tanning the cowhide into leather. It's called “vegetable” because of the natural materials used in the tanning process like tree bark. Since vegetable tanning is a natural process, it's also eco-friendly. The natural appearance of the leather before we dye it, has a slightly brownish tinge over a beige color, with a natural, woody and earthy smell. Vegetable tanned leather is a natural cowhide that when processed it can be stronger and more efficient than synthetic materials. That is why we use it.
Is it really all handmade? Yes! We have refused to utilize machinery to produce our wallets. We take pride in our work and want our wallets to reveal its authenticity when our customers receive them. The result of a handmade wallet adds character to its physical appearance which makes every wallet unique.
What does the logo mean? The Bonano.Edition Leather logo represents what we stand for when it comes to our wallets; and that is quality. The logo is a “B” with a stitching needle going through it to represent that we only hand-stitch our wallets. The dots inside the logo is a symbol of precision. We punch the holes in the leather by hand and the holes need to line up in order to result in a good stitch in our wallets. The logo simply serves as a reminder to all customers that we take the time and effort to make a genuine handmade wallet.
